WARTBURGS FüR WALTER (1988)

WARTBURGS FüR WALTER som prvý krát počul na kompilačke "We are the Flowers in the Redzone" (nájdeš ju aj v archíve tohto blogu).
Post-punk/dark rock.

text:

Break decay (Zerstörung Zerfall)
"Zerstörung Zerfall Liebshungrige Augen inmitten bunter Trümmer, vergängliches vergangen, keine Sprache für ein nichts, Liebeshungrige Augen, doch blind, Liebeshungrige Ruinen, Zerstörung; Zerstörung, Zerstörung, Zerfall."

info from You tube:

"Wartburgs für Walter was a darkwave/goth/deathrock band from East Berlin, the capital of East Germany.

Their name was a reference to an East German car brand called Wartburg and the name literally means "Wartburgs for Walter". They played mostly in private apartments and churches in East Germany, as punk nor rock bands in the Eastern bloc wouldn't get permission to play in other places. Playing gigs in churches was a East German-specific punk phenomenon and the East German punk scenes were based in the local churches as the Stasi (East German secret police) wouldn't monitor the concerts held there.

The band split in July 1989 and two of the members fled to West Berlin following the fall of the Wall".
